History and perfection

Golf de Biarritz - Le Phare

Come and play at this legendary traditional green which history goes to 1888,
when it was already welcoming its first members

HISTORY

In 1887, some British residents members of the British club, who wanted to practice their favourite sport during their summer holidays in Biarritz decided to create a golf course on the “plateau du Phare” (the area surrounding the lighthouse) . On the 13th of march 1888 the inauguration of the British golf club was held in presence of the Princess Frédérika of Hanovre and the following year, Tom and Willie DUNN, well-known English architects, were contacted to redesign the links. Since then the course has undergone several modifications and improvements, but you still have a chance to dress for your play at the traditional renovated locker room – Vestiaire.

THE COURSE

18 HOLES – 34 HECTARES – 5402 METERS – 69 PAR

It looks like being an easy course, which does not require any important physical efforts, but it’s really not. Its difficulty lies in his technicality and it is not that easy to « score ». 70 bunkers are there to remind us, that golf is, above all, a reflection and shrewdness affair.
